Establishment of new states:

On December 22, 1953, the first state reorganization commission was formed under the chairmanship of Judge Fazal Ali. This commission submitted its report on September 30, 1955. The three members of this commission - Justice Fazal Ali, Hridaynath Kunjru and KM Panikkar were. After the commission's report in 1955, new states were created in 1956 and became 14 states and 6 union territory states.

Then in 1960, the second round of restructuring came. So, in 1960 Bombay State was broken up to Maharashtra and Gujarat. In 1966, Punjab was partitioned and two new states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh were formed. After this there was a demand for partition in many states.

⚫️Andhra Pradesh - Andhra Pradesh Act, 1953 created by removing certain areas of Madras State.


⚫️️Gujarat and Maharashtra - Bombay Restructuring Act, 1960, Bombay was divided into two parts in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

⚫️️Karnataka - State Reorganization Act, 1956, created from then Mysore State. In 1973 it was named Karnataka.

⚫️️Kerala - State Reorganization Act, 1956, created in place of Travancore - Cochin.

⚫️️Nagaland - Made under the Nagaland State Act, 1962, with some areas from Assam State.

⚫️️Haryana - Created by removing some areas of Punjab by the Punjab Reorganization Act, 1966.

⚫️️Himachal Pradesh - State of Himachal Pradesh has been given state status by Himachal Pradesh State Act, 1970.

⚫️️Meghalaya - Created full state in 1972.

⚫️️Manipur and Tripura - In 1972, full state was created.

⚫️️Sikkim - The Constitution was accorded status of a cooperative state by the 35th Amendment Act, 1974, and it was granted full State status by the 36th Constitution Amendments Act, 1975.

⚫️️Mizoram - Made a complete state in 1986.

⚫️️Arunachal Pradesh - In 1987, the full state was made.

⚫️Goa - Created the state in 1987.

⚫️Chhattisgarh - In 2000, it was separated from Madhya Pradesh and created a separate state.

⚫️️Uttarakhand - In 2000, it was separated from Uttar Pradesh and created a separate state.

⚫️️Jharkhand - In 2000, this state was separated from Bihar and created a separate state.

⚫️Telangana - Separate state from Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
